As breast cancer community members, we know firsthand that October is so much more than pink ribbons, and thoughtless campaigns that don't paint the full picture.
As such we have decided to make some noise and change the narrative surrounding Breast Cancer Awareness Month with a movement we are calling “Reclaim October.”
Through our respective social media platforms and beyond, We, along with numerous community members (our “Reclaim Squad”) will explore various themes and topics including the importance of community, mental health, beauty, body/sexuality, and more. Our overall collective goals are to:
-Educate those who are not a part of the breast cancer community as to what they have endured as survivors;
-Support their community of those affected by breast cancer by highlighting the incredible work being done to raise awareness around this disease killing 40,000 women per year (CDC);
-Fundraise for organizations that make a direct impact for research and support in the community;
-Empower those to help spread the word of what this disease is really like.
100% of these funds wil go DIRECTLY TO STAGE 4 RESEARCH.
